You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)

1. Name: Brandy Leigh Hoover

2. Age: 29 years old in 3 more days. That's so freaking terrifying.

3. Location: Morgantown, WV. My birthplace, and the place that will always be Home, no matter where I go.

4. Occupation: Mommy, Wife, Full-time college student, wannabe poet.

5. Partner?: thorne1966. For nine years now. And I still love her with every atom of every molecule in my body.

6. Kids: One beautiful little eight-year-old boy.

7. Brothers/Sisters: I have an older half-sister that I rarely see, and a younger full brother and sister that I don't have much use for anymore. There are only so many times a person can tolerate being lied to, abused, and taken advantage of.

8. Pets: Too many. One large dog and a colorful assortment of cats.

9. List the 3 biggest things going on in your life:

A) School. This is the Biggest thing by far. I managed a 4.0 GPA for the spring '08 semester, and I'm signed up for Mary Ann Samyn's 313 poetry workshop this fall. I'm nervous and excited about it. I'm getting two of my English 101 essays published in next semester's English 101 textbook as "student examples." Apparently, this is a Big Deal. I also won two writing awards from the English Department--the Jon Scott Nelson Freshman Writing Award (for a paper I did on war protest signs) and first place in the Jon Scott Nelson Freshman Creative Writing Award (for a collection of five poems.)

B) I'm tentatively looking for a job for the summer, but I'm stressing over transportation and childcare issues.

C) We're going to be moving to a new place in August, and getting the hell out of this falling-apart rat trap of a trailer. With any luck, we'll have a nice, furnished 2-bedroom apartment (all utilities included.) I am SERIOUSLY stoked about it.

10. Education? I'm technically still a freshman at West Virginia University, a pre-English major with a concentration in creative writing, and a political science minor.

11. Parents? Jim and Debbie. My Dad was murdered thirteen years ago. Mom is still around, although ailing. She's tough, though. I have faith in her ability to overcome pretty much anything.

12. Who are some of your closest friends? I honestly don't have many. There's thorne1966, of course. And there are a lot of people here at LJ that I am "close" to in the sense that I'd be emotionally wrecked if anything happened to them. But I don't seem to talk to many of them anymore. Sometimes I'm sad about it...interests have diverged, etc. Other times I feel guilty--I don't post enough anymore to keep friends interested in my life. And still other times (particularly with "real-life" friends) I feel a bit abandoned...like they've moved on to better things. Life is awfully painful sometimes...

I called in today because my admissions letter from WVU (dated 5 days ago) said that they still needed to get my test scores and high school transcript before they could make a decision about admission. I thought there might be an issue with my transcripts being in my maiden name, so I called to let them know about it.

When the lovely, wonderful goddess from Admissions pulled up my file, she informed me that yes, they HAD received my transcripts and scores. Oh, and as of today...I had been accepted as a freshmen at West Virginia University!!!!!

*twirls all over the room*

I think I'm in the midst of an endorphin rush or something, because I feel GREAT right now!

I was chosen to have one of my poems featured in the first edition of a new poetry zine, dedicated to poems and prose that are worthy of being read aloud. The woman reading my poem is one of the amazing people who started this zine, and has a gorgeous British accent. *melts*
